Gathering Storm: Selected for the 2024 Bridgeport Annual Art Competition

Visit May 17 - July 5, 2024 - I’ll be there for the opening reception, hope to see you there!

2024: Sonoran Desert Wash Series

In this current series I am inspired by walks in the washes of the Sonoran desert, just south of Tucson, Arizona where I visited for amonth in December. I loved the quiet meandering while listening for birds and watching for other creatures of this stark but rich landscape.

2022: Here and There

With a lot of traveling in 2022, including an extended road trip, I needed to simplify my art-making process, and I had a desire to re-boot my work with lightness and color. Using multimedia, mainly acrylic prints and collages on paper, I’m creating these more quickly than usual, mixing and blending brighter colors, adding gestural marks to evoke mood.

The Power of Presence

Nature is my primary inspiration for this series - the amazing energy from rock faces, sky, a field of prairie grass. But as I worked on this, I felt the importance of human presence - the energy we present, and the interplay with other people and their energy over extended periods of time.

Liminality: Passages

Using angular shapes and lines, along with color and texture, I explore the energy and direction of passages, with layers of paint conveying the nuances of convergence, history, patterns, movement, and tension, along with the happy accidents that are a part of all journeys.

Boundaries

Geometry and angles, along with color, texture, shape and lines, express the boundaries that join and separate us. Layers provide the visual concepts of time and history with marks, scratches and overlays of color and texture.
